Whilst searching in the loft for something else I had a flick through a couple of photo albums (you know, with prints!) and found some pictures of my first car.
Bought for the princely sum of £575 four months before my driving test, I thought it was the bees knees. Despite it being brown...
Anyhow, it had the 6x10 minilite wheels, Cobra bucket seat, and a Peco exhaust that made it sound so much faster that it was ever capable of. (Standard 998cc engine, if you were wondering.)
It also had standard brakes. Or should I say standard
drum brakes, all round. More than once those suckers failed due to overheating, the worst probably on a trip over the Campsie Fells road - even the handbrake provided no retardation towards the bottom of the hill.
This first picture is post rebuild, it was sold not long after this picture was taken.
Halfway through the rebuild with my late Father proping the car up! He did more work on it (and subsequent cars) than I ever gave him credit, and probably thanks, for. Incredibly talented panel beater, who really should have moved into the restoration business as I often suggested.
Both photos are circa 1988, apologies for the rubbish quality. I suspect MNS 62V has been in Mini Heaven for quite some time now!
