A Valiant Effort

A couple of images of the Royal Navy's Valiant Jetty, as it heads up the Gareloch - at circa 1 knot - to it's new home at HMNB Clyde. OK, so I didn't get the benefit of taking images from the RN helicopter that were sent out to the press, but I did manage to get a few images from the shoreline at Shandon. The jetty was constructed in the dry dock at Inchgreen by Morgan Est, under the managemnt of Defence Estates. Once the jetty has been commissioned it will be "home" to the RN's Faslane-based SSN submarines, the jetty being specifically designed for the new Astute class being built at Barrow by BAe Systems.

True to form, it was a miserable day on the Clyde.
