British GT @ Knockhill

Back in June I posted "part 1" of a series of blogs covering the Motor Racing at Knockhill on June 13th. Well finally here is part 2! During the day the British GT Championship & support did their thing, and produced some good racing, although perhaps not quite as exciting as the Stock Cars from the Saturday evening...

First up is the race winning Preci-Spark Ascari KZR1 of the Jones brothers.

The rolling grid forming up before the racing starts.

The first half of the race saw a constant nose-to-tail battle between the Ascari and the Rollcentre Mosler MT900 of Brown & Fisken.

After the driver changes the Mosler dropped back through the field (finishing 5th), leaving the Ascari to run away with the race.

7th place Chad Ferrari 430 of Hyman & Balbiani kicks up the dust at the top of the John R Weir Chicane.

RS, VW & Hornet

Three more from the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club Rally at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington.
First up is a Ford Escort RS1600i, which I belongs to Stuart from the local RS Owners Club.
Second is a VW Bay Window camper; the owners told me that the van has never been subject to a restoration, only a respray and mechanicals when needed. The interior was all original as well.
Last but not least is a Wolseley Hornet, never a common sight on the roads of Britain but basically its "mutton dressed as lamb" Mini. Far from concours condition, but the owners obviously enjoy using it - maybe thats the point after all?

Clubby & Cosworths

We visited the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington where co-incidentaly (ahem) there was also the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club Rally taking place. We've been to the Museum before and its worth a visit if you're in the area, but this was an extra bonus as I missed the rally last year. A lot of nice cars were there, and some strange choices as well - more on that in a future post. To kick off here is one of my favourites of the day, a Mini Clubman, and a couple of Escort RS Cossies. The RS guys had their own area away from the rest of the cars, and I had a quick chat with them speculating as to why that was...might be a while before anything RS gets fully accepted by the classic car mob!

Richie's Mini

Did a very quick lunchtime shoot today of Richie's Mini, in Garelochhead. His pictures of the build process can be seen on www.scottishmini.co.uk, including the very impressive flip-front.

Walking With Dinosaurs!!!

Great fun today at the SECC in Glasgow...DINOSAURS!!! The UK leg of the world tour stopped off in Glasgow and there was no way we could let our very own Dinosaur King miss it. Inspired by the BBC commissioned show of the same name, Walking With Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular brings these awesome creatures to "life". The official website for the show is http://www.dinosaurlive.com, just don't show your kids as they'll kill you for not taking them. Below is a rather poorly shot (hey, its from my phone!) video of the star of the show - T-Rex.

The comment at the end of the clip is from the man himself...
